Why I Started JetSetSitter
There was a time when planning a vacation felt exciting right up until the moment I had to answer one question: What are we going to do with Sparky?
For us, that was always the hardest part.
Sparky wasn't just our dog. He was a 109-pound rescue with diabetes, arthritis, and a routine that gave him comfort. As he got older, the idea of boarding him never felt right. We didn't want him adjusting to a new environment, sleeping somewhere unfamiliar, or wondering why we weren't there. We wanted him to stay where he was happiest—at home.
The more we searched for care that felt right, the more I realized something was missing. Most services seemed built around convenience or logistics. They focused on feeding schedules, walks, and overnight stays. Very few were designed around what I believed mattered most: preserving a dog's routine, providing genuine companionship, and giving owners complete peace of mind while they were away.
After Sparky passed away, I wasn't ready to bring another dog into our home, but I also wasn't ready to lose the joy that comes from having dogs in my everyday life. Around that same time, friends began asking if I would stay with their dogs while they traveled. One stay became another, and with each experience I found myself thinking, This is the service I wish we'd had.
JetSetSitter wasn't created because I wanted to start another pet care business. It was created because I wanted to redefine what caring for someone's dog could look like.
To me, luxury has never meant extravagant gifts or unnecessary extras. Luxury is knowing your dog wakes up in their own bed. It's keeping the same morning walk, the same favorite spot on the couch, the same medication schedule, and the same familiar surroundings. It's being able to board a plane without wondering whether your dog is anxious or lonely. Real luxury is peace of mind.
Because I work remotely, I'm able to build my days around the dogs I care for rather than simply fitting them between appointments. That means more companionship, more consistency, and more presence. Every stay is personalized because every dog is different.
JetSetSitter also allows me to combine two things I genuinely love: traveling and caring for incredible dogs. I travel to my clients so their dogs never have to leave the comfort of home. I get to experience new places, and they get to enjoy their own routines. It's a model that feels as thoughtful for the owners as it does for the dogs.
This space—The Edit—is an extension of that philosophy. It won't just be a collection of articles. It will be where I share what I've learned from caring for dogs across the country, the places we've explored together, products I genuinely recommend, travel inspiration, and the little details that make a stay exceptional. My hope is that whether you're planning your next vacation or simply looking for thoughtful advice, you'll find something here that makes life with your dog a little easier.
Welcome. I'm so glad you're here.
